Sexuality: None for humans. Presumably straight among his own species.
Appearance: Nanaki is a large feline-looking beast, with a large Mohawk-like mane that runs from his head down his back. His fur is dark red, hence his nickname in-game, Red XIII. At first glance, he appears very threatening. His body is scarred and tattooed and he wears tribal jewelry, all of these symbols of his warrior lifestyle and of his tribe. He has a long tail that has a flame on the end, although for the purposes of this RP, it might be best that it just look like flame, rather than actually being flame.
Personality: Although his appearance is threatening, his personality is almost the exact opposite. His two defining traits are wisdom and loyalty. He is calm and rational most of the time, and to most of his human counterparts he seems very wise, probably because he is in fact much older than they are. However, by his species’ standards, he’s still practically a teenager, so he is still susceptible to irrational emotion and eager to prove himself. He can be aggressive when he feels himself or his comrades threatened, as well as occasionally naïve. He is serious almost to a fault, rarely telling the joke, often missing it, and even becoming the butt of it, occasionally. Having believed his father to be a traitor for most of his life, Nanaki values loyalty highly in himself and in others, and it also fuels his desire to prove himself as an independent adult.
Abilities: Nanaki’s main ability is his physical strength. He can fight ferociously, tooth and claw, and he is naturally powerful. He would normally have the ability to use materia, but that would not be available to him in Manhattan. He is also a good listener, and an avid learner, interested in learning about new things and people and is able to adapt to new situations quickly. Despite technically being an adolescent, he relates quite well to old people, since he’s always willing to listen to a story or hear some advice.
Weaknesses: A significant weakness of Nanaki’s would be his lack of opposable thumbs. He won’t be able to use everything available in a modern-day Manhattan, built for humans. He can probably find creative ways around those limitations, but he will be at a disadvantage (for journal entries he would probably have to do voice recordings). He also doesn’t take well to heat and humidity and would be a bit limited in this kind of weather. To other people, if they get past his threatening exterior, might also find him a little stoic and introverted, and possibly hard to talk to (or just plain boring).

History: Nanaki was raised in Cosmo Canyon by Bugenhagen after his parents were killed when the Gi tribe attacked. He dedicated himself to the protection of the Canyon and of the planet. At some point he was captured by the Shinra Corporation to be experimented on by Hojo, who dubbed him Red XIII, and tattooed the roman numerals onto Nanaki’s leg. Nanaki was rescued along with Aeris when Cloud and Company infiltrated Shinra headquaters. He stayed with them so he would not be alone at least until he made it back to Cosmo Canyon, and because he too was upset with the Shinra. When they reached the Canyon, Bugenhagen finally told Nanaki the truth about his father – that he was never a traitor and had died protecting the Canyon. Following this revelation and some more encouragement from Bugenhagen, Nanaki joins Cloud and Company in their greater quest to save the planet. He would end up in Manhattan sometime during the chaos of the ending of the game, when the Lifestream was doing its job and the Northern Crater was collapsing.
